Learning to cook develops creativity, academic skills and teamwork—but it’s also a lot of fun. In five days kids will learn everything from culinary terms and cooking technique to baking and international cuisine. Under the watchful eye of our professional chefs, junior chefs will split into groups to work on the day’s recipes, and then regroup at the chef’s table to discuss the day’s lessons and enjoy the food they’ve prepared.
Camp fee includes recipes, 6” Wüsthof chef’s knife, and exclusive Sur La Table apron and market bag. Classes only available as a five-part series. Monday – Introduction to the Kitchen
We’ll get acquainted with the kitchen, introduce equipment and terms, and make dishes as we practice our knife skills and discuss healthy eating choices.
MENU: Mini Vegetable Frittatas – Chopped Vegetable Salad with Cream Italian Dressing – Gazpacho – Apple Crisp
Tuesday – Sautéing, Roasting & Grilling
With the basics under our belts we’ll continue to cook using techniques like sautéing, roasting and grilling.
MENU: Chicken Piccata with Rice Pilaf – Roasted Vegetables – Grilled Fruit Skewers with Yogurt Dipping Sauce
Wednesday – Foods from Around the World
We’re off to Asia, Italy, Spain and Greece as we explore the world through food.
MENU: Pot Stickers with Asian Dipping Sauce (Asia) – Spaghetti Bolognese (Italy) – Spanish Tortilla (Spain, Potato Omelette) – Greek Salad (Greece)
Thursday – Baking Fun!
Baking day -- from breakfast treats to classic desserts.
MENU: Morning Glory Muffins – Triple Berry Cobbler – Mudslide Cookies – Applesauce Cake
Friday – Students’ Choice
Kids pick the menu -- on Wednesday each child will chose a dish they’ve always wanted to learn how to make, and our chef will choose five of them for the day’s menu.
